Settlement/ location backgrounds
Here we can come up with histories, cultures, and names of various areas in the RP world
I will edit this first post to be a summarry of what we have.
Right now we need names for a settlement in each region of the map (wich will be updated)
the light light peach color is beaches
The darker brown is a desert
Blue=water
yellow=savana
White=tundra/glaciers *all mountains have snow
Pink=Plains and grasses with wildflowers
Light green= forests
Dark green=Swamps/marshes/tropical areas
Red dots=Volcano/hot springs
Black dots=settlements
Grey dots=caves
Brown dots+grey dots=caves +tunnels
Dark grey=rocky infertile planes/cliffs
Preferably one or two names of settlements in the Island region.
If you can cultures of the named regions mabey their histories too would be nice

would be good environment
a land that is trying to rebuild leaves many oppertunities for adventures and dngers since there will be forces trying to pull it towards either way

Nice idea how bout the island is isolated from that though and are very different from the mainland? I was thinking huge culture shock, Island has only one or two factions on it at most and pretty isolated so till explorers come they have nothing to do with this struggle. Then once brought into contact with the others they could be a powerful tool, be easily corrupted, or cling stubornly to their ways and wreak havok. Hows this?
Island settlement:Belthnor
Culture: The people of Belthnor are one large clan. They have little technology but are masters of creating tools and even buildings from the volcanoe on their Island. One shaman-like "Flame-rock teller" in each generation dedicates his or her life to learning to predict the volcanoe eruptions for his or her clan. Warship mainly revolves around the two forces shaping their life, the fire god Haskorin and the water godess Linga, neither of wich are either good nor evil. Rights of passage for children involve their first boar hunt (with their own weapon they mold from the lava themselves), for both males and females as strength is regarded highly in both genders. Children may undergo this right of passage whenever they feel prepared once they become smex* mature. Pressure is put on them only if they wish to marry and if they get sick of being treated like children. Both genders when adult focus their energy on building hunting and fishing while it is the primary responsibility of the children to gather fruits and useful plants. They are good with rowboats but seldom venture far from the island and fish are plentiful nearby and the waters are often treacherous. Chiefs are chosen by the two gods, who can dance the longest apon the lavafeilds and row fastest to reach the shore through a dangerous maze of rocks and whirlpools becomes chief.

xD why not Truce? it makes sense in such a closed society and, gives people a chance to be creative with o.o deformities

why? Its the facts of life in a place like this and o.o well its simply having relationships within the clan. People shouldnt get more graphic with this then anywhere else just because its within families and people who are uncomfortable with it obviously dont have to join Belthnor. Or will there not be any "relationships" like this between any charachters allowed?

realistically I dont see a problem there are lots of closed off societies that have this issue but not necessarily deformiies

Well no, not all of them would have deformities, just that it would be more common then anywhere else. Also the fact that pregnant woman work on making things with Lava(high heat and probably radiation, dont site me, Im making this up) might increase that as well.
I thought it would be really fun to have something like this but if you dont like it truce, we can get rid of that part or we could have two Islands and a different clan without that on the other Island, it could keep the name belthnor?

Dras-Leona near the sea region D= i suggest
Silthrim in the cave region, Buragh high up north near the river
Farthen Dùr in the highest region
Aberon near the sea at the coast
Eoam in the isle region in the forest
could you also add a town in the forest cuz i think we need more than this?

Absolutly, we just need names, although, are they all from eragon or just farthen-Dur? Personally I think we should create our own world.
If the Island one I suggesed is accepted and we choose to remain in one island then we really cant put another settlement on the island, there can be multiple forest settlements on the mainland though. What do you think?

o.O I think we're making this too complicated. Or maybe I don't like it o.o I dunno. we don't need too many places and all that. Definitely no inbreeding that's just gross. A village of over 200 people could find a way without doing that o.o. I like Gaara's places

Well realistically 200 people, over generations... 200 isnt very big but whatever. If it will make you happy, Ill deleate the interbreeding parts. The RP is mostly yours after all.

yes yes but i like the names... and unless the users think we are copying then change the names >.> ... but i like the names and thats all that matters to me after all they are only names!!
Farthen Dùr could be Quel`fornac if it sounds better but im bad at coming up new names ._. and i like Dras-Leona a lot, it sounds so epic

lol, anyway. we need a capital!! =D Maybe that Dras-Leona an extremely large port city with massive structures and a Colosseum and expensive houses =D

i dont think the capital should also be a port city...
wouldnt it be better to have specialized cities in that way?

Well, yeah...But a lot of early capitals are built near the sea or a river =o and the capital is the biggest best city, having the majority of the trade and commerce and what better way than to have it near a transportation depot like a river or the sea? =3 But it wouldn't be the only port o.o and a guild capital? =o What's that?

a river is ok...
but not being called a port city in that view...
the capital is mostly there where the king lives and rules...
the governments seats... etc
the major use of it is a place to rule from...
there also live much nobility

A river sure, trad is executed there although less effectively if you want to trade out of country. Maybe that settlement in the pink area of the map =O

If we are suggesting a capital for the whole mainland I would vote for on a fork between rivers, in the center. I think we should have at least two factions though not counting the islanders. If they are recovering from war especially.
