Elves were a race of beings who migrated to Alagaësia in the distant past; the exact date is unknown. Humanoid in appearance, they had noticeably angular features, slanting eyebrows, and pointed ears; they were generally tall and slim, and were, according to legend, the fairest people of the land, partly because of physical transformation (and were thus called the Fair Folk). More elves were greatly gifted with magic than the other races, and had an innate knowledge of their true names.

"Never ask an elf for help; they might decide you're better off dead, eh?"
— Orik

Culture

Both men and women had equal rights in elvish society; both could be warriors and leaders. There have been both male and female monarchs. Elves did not follow any form of religion; strict agnostics to the point of atheism, they maintained that there was not enough proof for the existence of a deity.

The elves were vegetarians, believing that all forms of life should be respected. They would not have killed anything after being inside it's mind and knowing what it felt like for it to be alive. They also had a great love of nature, evidenced by their architecture.

Elves did not practice marriage, but took mates for as long as they wanted, resulting in many short partnerships. This was also the result of the elves' ability to hold grudges for decades at a time although they did not tend to hold grudges knowing that they could be kept for a millennium. This meant that elven children were rare and cherished. At the time of Eragon's training with Oromis there were only two in Ellesméra.

Realtionships between Humans and elves were rare, due to the different species, culture and the life span of both races. Christopher Paolini has stated in a recent interview that half-human, half-elfen offspring were not immortal like their elf parent. Instead, they had long lives and most weren't able to have children of their own.

something like this, mainly its taken from eragon but the basis should be about the same...

lol no problem.... btw i got more info but your probably better withouth them xD and i might have meantioned about this before but elf`s dont have any hair in there body, except on there head... also the fact that most dragon riders are elves (at least the more skilled ones, there instict, agility and evasiviness etc) are better than humans over all then i mean like senses smell, hearing, intelligence and so on...

But they lack an open mind! Like my parents o.o'

But that's only two =/ If we're gonna have races it's gotta be more than that lol.

Changed my mind, I think I like races, lol. I've been looking at Drow Elves =O They're from the underdeep and are awesome warriors and magicians =D And totally hot =3

.... T-they lack open mind, what do you mean???.... and i see i totally get it, but in eragon the elves as meantioned on my statement (fair folk) that statement contracts this statement/opinion off course im only saying this to show another opinion of mine its not like it has to be the same though...

ohh adding about another race idk about gnomes but id like to have dwarves too.... since they are pretty much the basic thing in most novels and stories such as this, not to meantion about dragons off course, they however should be seen in another perspective... while most wild dragons are ferious beasts that show no or almost no mercy to anyone to bother them they should still be though as a race of sorts.... yet withouth a real kingdom

because they are more animals than humans or alike which we are should agree to....

yeah drow are awsome like (becomes geeky for a bit) my lvl 25 drow *lvl 15 wizard, 5 rogue, lvl 10 arcnae trickster* now that was a scary drow XD

but I think we shouldnt drown the rp to much in races or it is going to become to complicated. I mean next we will need to think of benefits to each rce or down sides, and then it will be years before we are done

No one likes drows because they have that evil background =o Elves, because they are haughty =] Dwarves because they are short and grump and like gems and stay to themselves and don't share xD Humans because they expand =3

we might limit races to classes...

like dwarfs would never be mages...

on the other site... elves arent that strong... and wouldnt be that good in stuff like street fighter...

or a thin long sword or a spear...

well.. they might be finesse fighters..
but they still lack strength i'd say

well truce not true there are D&D realms where drow can be good and even a good drow deity (look up the forgotten realms)

back on topic yeah limiters help but again will have to give benefits and disadvantges

for example dwarves make better then average fighters (but then every fighter may choose to be a dwarf fighter for the benefit)
or a elf wizard

this problem occurs in all rpgs since almost everyone goes for the race that would give the most benefit for their choosen class

I didn't say that, Viperz o.o' Most Drows are, it's their background.

The drow (pronounced either /ˈdraʊ/, rhyming with "now",[1] or /ˈdroʊ/, rhyming with "throw," per Mentzer, 1985[2]) or dark elves are a generally evil, dark-skinned subrace of elves in the Dungeons & Dragons fantasy roleplaying game.[3]

well the answer is obvious

if you are going to hve races

then only certain rces can be certain classes and no others can

or you give balances to the races so that no one race has an advantage in a class

If they were all balanced, would it be any use to have races? Besides aesthetics?

actually elves are strong.... but not in the way as humans are... they are mentally strong with intellect and they are good runners also they are very good at dodging, (at least in eragon they are stronger than humans) even if they have a sort of a weaker body there insticts and speed make them great fighters i say.... maybe even stronger than humans because of magic, giving them greater strenght... idk really but what i mean is that you should never look down on a elf, because they might just be a lot stronger than you think...

and balancing classes huh... hmm i guess you have a point there.... guess elves can be really arrogant

ok...

well... like vipy said...
we cant just say this race is good in that... and the other race is better in the other stuff...
making it that everyone who wants to be a mage... automatically makes himself an elf... and the same for other classes... as they would give him an advantage...

thats why we need to balance that...
so even if an elf is a mage... and though the elf is rather physically weak...
as a mage you wouldnt need that much of physical anyway...
but there still need s to be an disadvantage...

if we are not able to balance this out...
then we might not implement races at all..
or maybe only make them RPing only purpose... but no effect on the actual classes etc...
