races
First topic message reminder :
here we can discuss about races...
do we even need to implement races...
if yes...
what kind of races should there be...
what are their differences...

Re: races
ok balancing
how about this
elfs are better at magic, extra good at dodging for their speed, but the disadvantge is that elfs tend to be frail so cant take as much damage, nd can only wear lighter armors and weapons to keep speed
humans get one extra skill per each rank then all races, and can wear anything (except mages)
dwarves can use anything make good fighters but are bad at dodging attacks
this is a start if you want races
we could later say to get dwarf mages they are better t earth magics maybe

Re: races
well...
all classes can use "magic" to a certain extend...
but yeah...
though it sounds weird that dwarfs wouldnt be able to dodge that good...
maybe they are just slow...
and yeah... maybe limit their magic to earth magic....

URGALS
General Information: The First Impression
Urgals. The very sound of the word brings an impression of churlishness, brute force, and negativity. Like bullies claiming a school yard, the Urgals staked their adversarial role in Eragon with hostility and intimidation. The Urgals are not native to Alagaësia; they followed the Elves' migration from Alalea. The Urgals resemble men with "bowed legs and thick, brutish arms made for crushing." They have a pair of twisty horns atop their heads that don't seem to serve a particular purpose; perhaps as a compensation for their defective vision. The biggest, brawniest kind of Urgal is a Kull, which can grow to 8 1/2 feet in height.
The Urgals are a violent race; bred to fight and conquer regardless of gender. Due to their lack of morals and sense of empathy, they do not adhere to the values of most other Alagaesian inhabitants. For instance, the worth and power of one in an Urgal clan is determined by their ability to physically dominate every living thing within a ten yard radius. An Urgal can gain respect and authority in their society by killing as much as inhumanely possible. They are ruthless fighters, sparing neither young nor old as shown in the brutal massacre of the residents of Yazuac. However, the Urgals were under the control of Durza, a Shade employed by Galbatorix, at the time; they cannot be deemed as fully responsible.
Typically a war-mongering race that had many inter-clan clashes, the Urgals were magically compelled into uniting and fighting together for their Ushnark the Mighty (known to everyone else as Galbatorix). Durza led the Urgal armies until he was slain by Eragon in the battle of Farthen Dûr. Durza's binding spell was lifted upon his death. Havoc broke loose as the Urgals ceased fighting the Varden to battle amongst themselves. The Varden easily defeated the preoccupied Urgals. Enraged and vengeful for Galbatorix's brazen-faced acts against them, the Bolvek Tribe of Urgals approached the Varden with the offer of alliance. The Varden, open to any assistance, accepted the offer. Knowing this, what could lie ahead for the Urgals? Will an Urgal hero rise and atone the misdoings of their kind? We can only wonder..

Re: races
here`s the "shade" i was talking about its not a "race" really just something in between, just needed to make this clear...
Shades
As sorcerers turned evil, Shades are some of the most feared warriors in all of Alagaësia. It is widely known that anywhere a Shade appeared death and destruction are sure to follow. Their sharp eyesight enhances their vision, allowing them to see more clearly during the day and at night. A Shade, stronger than any normal human, is not only skilled in fighting with a sword but also with magic. It is said that they practice some of the most corrupt magic after necromancy. Most Shades are created through accident. As sorcerers, they wield many types of spirits to achieve their biddings, some of which are wicked and evil. But sometimes, during summoning, the spirits that are called upon are stronger than the caller. When this happens, the Shade relinquishes their control and the evil spirit takes command. Once the spirit has control of the person, it never leaves. This power makes it very difficult for a Shade to be defeated.
One of the only Shades mentioned in Eragon was Durza, ally to King Galbatorix. Durza, or Carsaib, was a head authority figure amongst Galbatorix’s ranks. Tall and thin in appearance, this Shade adorned blood red hair that framed his pale, gaunt face. His maroon eyes and filled points for teeth gave him a demonic form that allowed him to easily intimidate his opponents. A long pallid sword was his most recognizable weapon, mainly because of the long fine scratch that curved down the blade. A sword through the heart brought about his death, which is the only way for Shade to be slain. In the process of dying, the Shade was torn apart by the darkness and able to release the evil spirits that had lain within.
In history, there have only been three individuals to successfully kill a Shade. Two of which are Laetri the Elf and Irnstad the Rider. The third entity to achieve this task is Eragon the Rider who destroyed the Shade, Durza. There is only one way to effectively kill a Shade: a thrust through the heart. Anything else as severe will cause them to vanish and then reappear elsewhere in spirit form. During the process of this disappearance, a misty cloud forms around the Shade and their skin turns gray. Once the cloud vanishes so does the Shade. It’s said to be a very unpleasant process to endure.

Re: races
okay maybe one of these races could be still added... just proposing several alternatives
The Ra’zac (or Lethrblaka when full-grown) were one of the several ancient races that followed the humans across the sea to Alagaësia. They were a race that fed on humans and likely came from the same homelands. Ra'zacs' breath have the power to paralyze humans in a dream-like state, barely clouds the minds of dwarves, but is ineffective against elves.
The last two Ra'zac to live before the extinction of their race (as well as the remaining two Lethrblaka) were servants of Galbatorix, living in their black towers at Helgrind. They were used by King Galbatorix to investigate any rumors of dragons who might have escaped the downfall of the Dragon Riders. They were called by some the king's personal "dragon hunters."
The Ra'zac commonly used Seithr Oil, and with it killed Garrow, Parr and countless others. Th Ra'zac used bows and arrows usually coated in Seithr Oil. They used ancient leaf-bladed swords. They had probably been using the swords against riders/dragon/humans for years without them breaking, in which case the blades would have to be either stolen from elves or heavily enchanted(This would need to be done so by a very skilled enchanter, since ordinary blades augmented with magic for durability require a magician to renew the spells protecting them, and the Ra'zac cannot use magic). There was a taller and smaller Ra'zac(this could correspond with age or gender). The last of the Ra'zac hid in Helgrind, and were warded by Galbatorix's spells. They kept both Seithr Oil and torture devices inside. The Ra'zac are known to be mortally afraid of water, as they cannot swim.

Re: races
x.x
so much text...
anyway...
ive read the urgals text...
and... well...
i dont know how it would be possible to implement them...
what are their abilities, their disadvantages...
ass ive seen was that they are big and strong... and mercyless..
but... what else...?
about shades.. (i havent bothered reading the whole text)
as in the first sentences said...
its a sorcerer gone on the dark side...
and im already saying... they will not exist as a race...
as well as i said... if anyone ever will become 4th rank in that class of the dark split... then they can decide if they prefer being shades... in that view.. that instead or in addition being able to summon and control the undead... they might be able to control those dark souls or whatever they are...
EDIT: about the other races...
i rather prefer reading their abilities...
than the history of them... as it doesnt matter here

Re: races
so true.... to make it short
Urgals
they are big and sturdy creatures, in my opinion they recemble orc`s but are bigger, they arent really clever, pretty stupid actually but they are rather fast for there size, they cant out run elves but they have other stats far greater than elves, such as hit points, strength... they should and do wear armor made out of leather, iron etc they can grow up to 8,1/2 feet tall which are called Kull (the elite) they carry weapons such as axes, pikes, usually weapons with 2 hands....
Ra`zac
hates light and water above all else, (cant swim) at first when they are born (like a pupa) they grow an exoskeleton like humans when they are 20yrs old they grow out of there exoskeleton (leatherblaka) which gives them the ability to fly like dragons but by no means do they look like dragons when grown up.... The Ra`zac cant use magic, but they also seem resistant to it at least to some degree...
there abilities are: there increadeble speed (about as fast as elves)
Intelligent, as they do seem to speak human language, but giving a clicking sound to each other when they communicate...
Bad smell (can paralyze humans)
(leatherblaka) low pitched scream (which makes it hard to think rationally)
they can also fly, carry there offspring
does this sound better?

Re: races
no you got it a bit wrong.... when they mature they are a bit like dragons (when they get 20yrs old) other wise they are just as tall as humans...
also when i say they look like dragons, well they dont except there wings and stuff, they have a sort of a peck (like birds, what is it called?) they dont have hair but is compleytley naked, also they dont talk (at least what ive heard, only the youths talk) there wings look like that of a bat, actually they look a lot like bats except there head and claws...
