spells and skills
First topic message reminder :
every class will be able to use magic in some ways...
some use spells
some use skills ( i dont mean skills like strength, intel, speed, etc), skills are like special moves...
some use both
elements is another questions...
of course not every skill/spell will have an element...
but.... actually... everyone will be able to use every element they want
but they need to be reasonable...
also... there are the 4 basic elements: fire, water, earth and wind
advanced elements like: poison, lightning, ice, etc
special elements: light and darkness
i think we better call them attributes... ö-Ö or not?
depending on what class... you will need to choose one (basic) attribute, then through out the game... get a secondary one... (< advanced? >)and eventually a 3rd one
of course need to be reasonable... you cant choose opposing elements
mages are another part...
apprentices will be able to use 1 basic
then depending on what way they choose...
dark mages >> 2nd rank: dark attribute > 3rd rank: second basic(or advanced... dont know yet) > 4th rank: advanced attribute
but they need to be reasonable with them... example: fire, earth and poison along with dark would fit good together
elemental mages >> 2nd rank: add 2 basics > 3rd: add 1 basic and 1 advanced > 4th: all, except dark or light
healers >> same as dark mages except they get the light attribute at 2nd rank
they also would need to be reasonable... example: water, wind, and lightning along with light would fit together
if some one wants to have a mixed char, they will have to sacrifice some attributes
dragon riders will have to choose the attribute of their dragon... and choose their own attribute that fits to the dragons attribute
the dragons attribute can be though any attribute... basic or advanced (dont know if special attributes will be used here)

though of course with the growth of your char... the lower level spells will grow too
example: level 1 fireball is pretty small at the beginning... and grows in size and speed, or can fly curves or even stop in its flight aka controllable, and the char can decide how the ball behaves and the char will need less time to prepare/cast the spell too, or if we make it like this... wont need to speak the chant (>> like kidou in bleach)

Each weapon should have so many slots for special things, like spells and abilities, but the more slots a weapon has, the more expensive it will be =] Buuuut what about RPCs who don't use weapons? like martial artists?

Martial Artists should be able to execute skills without using weapons. Like a custom fighting technique.
But martial artists should also be able to use weapons like staffs, sai, nunchucks, and sword/twin swords.

... well I consider them the same thing but whatever -.-
But I still think they should be able to use their own styles of fighting, ex: (Wolf Fang Fist)

martial artist have knuckles.. gloves etc...
they are their weapons..
but... weapons dont have a whole bunch of slots...
i think the more skills/spells/abilities it has sealed inside itself... the more expensive it becomes...
though i really think they should add to the slots of a char...
so if you dont use this weapon anymore... you also loose the skills/spell/ability .... and only if you still have free slots of your char... you might learn a skill or spell after using the skill/spell a LOT of times. abilities are not learnable through weapons... as weapons can add to the ability (abilities are rather passive things)

How about this... The user will be able to have as many skills as they want but they will need power level points to distribute the power level of the skill/spell.
The lowest level is 1, and the highest level is 99. So the ranking goes 1-99 (see my ranking chart for details)
But how is the RPG going to go by? Level (ex: 1,2, 3, etc.) or Ranks (ex: AS, Genin, Chuunin, etc.) or by both?
Here's a chart if level:
Level 1: User starts out with 10 points to distribute to skills/spells.
Level 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9: User gains 5 points
Level 10: User gains 10 points.
Etc...

Too many points o.o I was thinking five blank spots at level one, some for skills, some for spells. Only magic classes can choose spells but can also choose some non-combat skills.

i hoped to have both ranks and levels

And you get access to a whole new range of spells/skills. =D
And of course, make your skills have a greater rank (Ex. Rank D goes to Rank C, and to Rank B in the next class)
